Event Description 

The Calgary Maker Faire Designathon is a student design competition that brings together the most creative design thinkers, innovators and future leaders to tackle some of the most challenging problems in our society. 

The Calgary Maker Faire Designathon is weekend long design competitions where participants are given a selection of real-world challenges from Engineering. Participants will be given 24 hours to create a solution, build prototypes, and present to a panel of industry professionals. Winners will be announced on Sunday May 14th at 3:30 pm.

Who can attend?

Applications are open to all post-secondary, senior high school and junior high students with experience in engineering design. Designathon applications can be done as an individual or as a team. With three categories, Undergraduate, Senior High School and Junior High School, students can enter their projects and win prizes.

Undergraduate – First prize $750, Second prize $375, Third prize $175

Senior High School – First prize $450, Second prize $225, Third prize $100

Junior High School – First prize $300, Second prize $150, Third prize $50

Want to build a better world? Start with an engineering project that will compete with other students from around Calgary and other parts of Canada. Learn engineering by building a project of your choice and compete in the Calgary Maker Faire Designathon.

Students will get a booth to work on, show off and discuss their project.
